JOB DESCRIPTION

Our client's automotive / e-mobility organization centers on accelerating the equitable transition to zero-emission electric, connected, autonomous, and shared vehicles. Their growing organization is looking to add an energetic, experienced Program Director to help them change the world for the better.

 

Our client's new Program Director will lead their Program staff of 4 - 6 employees. This is a full-time virtual position. The person that fills this role will wear multiple hats. The ideal candidate will have formal experience managing staff and programs, thriving in entrepreneurial environments, strong written, visual, and verbal communication skills, and the ability to build strong teams. Confidentiality and discretion are also key attributes and are required for this position.

ABOUT OUR CLIENT

Our client is the nation’s largest network of diverse electric vehicle drivers and enthusiasts. The mission of our passionate and dedicated team is to advance electric vehicles (EVs) and other multimodal solutions and to ensure those solutions are inclusive and equitable. They engage with communities often left out of e-mobility discussions, advocate for e-mobility solutions in underserved communities, and shift the narrative about e-mobility to be more inclusive of diverse populations. Specifically, their work involves a mix of grassroots engagement, media outreach, research, speaking engagements, and advocacy and decision-maker education. That work spans many aspects of e-mobility and equity, including climate justice, workforce development, public health, multimodal mobility, and creative financing of e-mobility solutions. We’re currently expanding to meet the demand for our advocacy efforts and thought leadership.

 

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

This person is expected to build teams, coach and support staff in their work, encourage their career development, ensure focus and wise use of resources, and drive outstanding performance.

  • Provides guidance and direction for direct reports, ensuring projects are completed on time and efficiently managed

  • Leads a team of employees and contractors to support their initiatives and milestones; create an inspiring team environment

  • Manages performance evaluation and improvement process, including goal setting, annual reviews, and continuing personal development

  • Supports the programs team in all aspects of project development, management, and evaluation

  • Strategizes for the future growth and development of projects and programs overall

  • Guides the development and implementation of project strategies, budgets, business models, and other processes to support meeting organizational goals

  • Coordinates process for determining new program direction and defining new projects

  • Promotes a high level of coordination and synergy among individual projects and programs and addresses areas of potential conflict

  • Coordinates with leadership team to promote organizational policy goals and positions, translate programs work into a clear, compelling story and ensure synergy between program efforts and other organizational initiatives

 

REQUIREMENTS

  • At least 4 years of related staff, project planning, organizational system building, execution and program management experience

  • Graduate degree in business, management or a field with emphasis on business operations, management and strategy

  • Knowledge of transportation electrification broadly or willingness to learn content 

  • Passion for seeking equity and justice, and appreciation for how e-mobility intersects with issues of equity, diversity and justice

  • Experience creating workflows, internal systems in a fast moving, start up environment  

  • An understanding of policy-making processes broadly, and the ability to think strategically about how to navigate those processes

  • Strong interpersonal skills for team building and conflict management

  • Experience directing multiple programs and strategizing their development and growth

  • Experience, including lived experience, applying an equity lens to transportation

  • Experience coordinating and owning whole portfolios of work across geographic areas and building effective teams

  • A proven ability to manage and complete multiple tasks with minimal supervision, ideally in a remote working environment

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with a great attention to detail

  • High-speed Internet access

LOCATION

US; Remote. This role can be based anywhere in the continental U.S. Occasional travel to join the team members at internally and externally-facing meetings and events will be expected.
